Outreach work in Feng County

On June 21st and 22nd, XinXing lead counselors and a volunteer performed their quarterly outreach visit to Feng County, Shaanxi, located 3 hours south of Baoji. Feng County is one of 3 regions that the Outreach Program services. XinXing has been providing long-term assistance in Feng County and surrounding villages since 2008, after the disastrous earthquake that struck the region. Since then, XinXing brings fundamental support and counseling to children and their families who have been identified by local school partners as needing aid. During this trip, XinXing provided 8 children with summer clothes and shoes, school supplies and food staples. Additionally, XinXing administered ongoing counseling for the children and their families. XinXing assessed children's needs and determined which families may need additional support for tuition, health checks, nutrition and other fundamental services. XinXing also solicited special requests from the children with nearly all of the kids expressing a desire for more books.
