Outreach work in Lin You County

On July 5th, 2014, XinXing staff performed their quarterly outreach visit to Lin You County, Shaanxi, located 3 hours north of Baoji. Lin You County is one of 4 regions that the Outreach Program services. XinXing has been providing long-term assistance in Lin You County. XinXing brings fundamental support and counseling to children and their families who have been identified by local school partners as needing aid. During this trip, XinXing provided 6 children with summer clothes and shoes, school supplies and sports equipment. Additionally, XinXing administered ongoing counseling for the children and their families.

Xinxing's introduction

Baoji Xinxing Aid for Street Kids was legally registered in 2006 as the first non-government organization to work with street kids in China. The coordinator and a number of staff already had a few years of experience of working with disadvantaged and homeless children and young people through “Medicins Sans Frontiers” for Baoji street children’s program. However, even maintaining the existence of an NGO in this sensitive field required high levels of commitment, extraordinary youth and child work skills, and perseverance. Xinxing began its work by providing a residential care centre with 24 hour services provided by full time carers on roster.
